Scouts in 367 sell lots of popcorn!!
Every summer, the Boy Scouts of America are out and about across the country for their signature fundraiser, the BSA popcorn fundraising campaign. This campaign is organized by Boy Scouts of America through a partnership with Trails-End. The popcorn fundraiser promotes salesmanship, public speaking skills, scouting opportunities, and raises much needed funds for the local area council and for the scouts in packs and troops across the state.
This year troop and pack 367 outdid themselves. Collectively the scouts sold over $10,000 in popcorn! The troop and pack were the top sellers in the Southwest Atlanta District. 25 boys from Unit 367 sold popcorn. Of the 25 boys, 21 sold $100 or more in popcorn, 11 sold $500 or more in popcorn and 2 boys sold over $1,500 in popcorn! And the boys had a blast while doing it! The scouts were able to partner with our local Kroger supermarket, Tractor Supply store, and Elizabeth Baptist Church to set up their own little storefronts. Members of the community were excited to support the scouts and the scouts were excited to connect with the community. The scouts spent several hours honing their skills and practicing sales pitches. In the end popcorn sales paid off. 21 scouts were able to earn free dues, 11 scouts earned dues and recharter fees, and 2 scouts earned dues, recharter, and summer camp! The Unit is so grateful to the scouts, parents, and community partners who worked with the boys to achieve their goals.
